Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea dates back to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It was generally enjoyed as a social event for the upper classes. High tea, which it is sometimes referred to, dates back to the Industrial Revolution, where workers would return home from work famished, and so would enjoy an afternoon tea at the dinner table, whereby they would enjoy bread, cheese, meats and vegetables, and of course, tea.

Today, Afternoon Tea, is still a social event and here at Dandelion we make it extra special. Included in our Afternoon Tea is;

A selection of sandwiches
Home made cakes
Scone with Cornish clotted cream and local tiptree jam
All of which, is beautifully displayed on our cake stands.
All Afternoon teas must be booked in advance by phoning the shop on 01277 840023 or email

Throughout the year we ocassionally have Afternoon Tea days.  These have a different ambience to the café in the daytime. Jazz music is played throughout the afternoon and the ‘feel’ of the shop is more formal.  These take place on certain Sundays.

Please ‘like’ us on facebook or check our website for regular updates and upcoming dates for Afternoon teas.  This way you won’t miss out.

Again, booking is always advised, as we cannot guarantee a table without a pre-booking.

“Dandelion and Burdock is in the ‘hub’ of the village and the shop has a fresh, New England appeal”
